ESA Technology Market Assessments: understanding the foreseen demand for Power Management and Distribution technologies • Feb 2026
In the frame of the 2nd Cycle 2025 of the European Space Technology Harmonisation process, ESA and Novaspace have carried out a market assessment study to estimate the demand for Power Management and Distribution technologies.
The forecast suggests that more than 490,000 products will be addressable by European and Canadian suppliers over the next decade, with a significant upside in space markets considered a priori non-addressable. The demand is distributed in the following product types:
Power Conditioning and Distribution Units (PCDU)
DC/DC Converters
Power Processing Unit (PPU)
Electronic Power Conditioners (EPC HV)
Electronic Power Conditioners (EPC LV)
Laser driver
Array Power Tiles (APT)
Solar Array Drive Electronics (SADE)
Antenna Pointing Mechanism Electronics (APME)
Reaction Wheel Electronics (RWE)
Gallium Nitride power components (Power GaN)
Special Check-Out Equipment (Power SCOE)
The European Space Technology Harmonisation provides the framework and the key instruments needed to coordinate space technology at the European level.
