The Economics of Big Science: Examining Socio-Economic Impacts and Best Practices - 2nd Edition Workshop

The Economics of Big Science: Examining Socio-Economic Impacts and Best Practices - 2nd Edition Workshop [Jul/2023]

In May 2023, the second “Economics of Big Science” workshop was held in Paris organised by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), the European Intergovernmental Research Organisation forum (EIROforum), and ESA. The event targeted an inter-institutional exchange on the role of public investments made in research infrastructures and Big Science projects for economic development, as well as reviewing different approaches to assess their economic impact beyond their core scientific mission on the global and regional scale. This meeting also held the objective to create a forum for exchanging best practices that can maximize the impact of such projects.

For these, a wide range of speakers were present from international institutions, as well as, from multiple leading business and science universities in Europe. The full list of contributors and a detailed breakdown of the discussed points will be available in the upcoming joint publication “The economics of Big Science – 2nd Edition”.
