Day 1 of the online Global Space Economic Workshop - 'Space and the COVID-19 crisis: Opportunities for industry', recorded on 3 July 2020.

Introduced by Eric Morel de Westgaver, ESA Director of Industry, Procurement and Legal Services, this online workshop presented ESA's actions to support European resilience to the crisis, in the field of healthcare, education and logistics.

The round table was moderated by Luca del Monte, ESA's Head of Industrial Policy Division with presentations from Nick Appleyard, Head of Downstream Business Applications Department, Beatrice Barresi, Project Manager and Arnaud Runge, Medical Engineer at ESA.


Day 2 of the online Global Space Economic Workshop - 'Space and the COVID-19 crisis: The value of Earth observation data during and after the crisis', recorded on 9 July 2020.

During this workshop Josef Aschbacher, ESA Director of Earth Observation Programmes presented the value of Earth observation data during and after the COVID-19 crisis.

The round table moderated by Charlotte Mathieu, Head of Industrial Policy and Economic Analysis Section discussed how space data can help with monitoring the impacts of the pandemic and how this will assist the recovery in the post-COVID world. Yves Louis Desnos, Head of the Data Applications Division and Anca Anghelea, Earth Observation Open Data Scientist and Nicolaus Hanowski, Head of the Mission Management and Ground Segment Department took part in the panel discussion.


Day 3 of the online Global Space Economic Workshop - 'Space and the COVID-19 crisis: Access to finance for European industry', recorded on 16 July 2020.

During this workshop representatives from ESA and the European Investment bank discussed the tools available to facilitate access to finance for the European space industrial community to overcome the economic crisis caused by COVID-19.


Day 4 of the online Global Space Economic Workshop - 'Space and the COVID-19 crisis: Discussing solutions', recorded on 23 July 2020.

During this workshop four European companies presented their solutions to combat the COVID-19 crisis with new applications and services in the downstream sector supported by ESA.

This session concluded with an inspirational talk with ESA astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti.
